Ride the 28 Tram

Location: Start in Campo Ourique or Martim Moniz, Lisbon

We couldn’t begin our top things to do in Lisbon guide without mentioning the country's famous yellow trams. Not only is jumping on 28 Tram an iconic backdrop to your next instagram post, they’re actually a great way to cover large grounds of the city at once. As it’s a direct line, you can sightsee through many neighbourhoods, either starting at Campo Ourique, Matrtim Moniz, or somewhere inbetween. Our advice? Be prepared to queue for a spot. While being able to cover a large proportion of Lisbon, the downside is that it can get extremely busy.

Explore Castelo de São Jorge

Location: Santa Maria Maior, Lisbon

Take the capital by great heights when you visit Santa Maria Maior. Sitting proud on top of the city's skyline, you’ll surely have the best view in Lisbon when ticking this Castelo de São Jorge off your must see list. Arguably one of the most popular attractions to visit while in Lisbon, we can easily see why. Overseeing rows of terracotta rooftops, and the River Tagus, for any first time visitor, we’d highly recommend the trip. Book your tickets online before arriving to skip the queues.

Visit a Rooftop Bar to Watch the Sunset

Location: Lisbon

After a fun filled day taking in all the best sights Lisbon has to offer, we’re sure you could do with a cold refreshment or two. Look no further than one of Lisbon’s many rooftop bars. They don’t call Lisbon the city of seven hills for no reason. Unwind with a beverage of your choice and watch as the sunsets beyond the horizon. Our favourite you ask? Rooftop Bar Mundial. Located in the heart of the city, Hotel Mundial’s rooftop is a top thing to do in Lisbon as it’s widely recognised for its sunset party season. Be sure to add to your tour of Portugal itinerary before you forget.

Stroll Through Monsanto National Park

Location: Monsanto, Lisbon

If the heart of Lisbon was its famous rooftop bars, meet the lungs of the capital by strolling through Monsanto National Park. Located in the west, this open green space welcomes peace in a thriving city environment. Which is why it's one of the best things to see in Lisbon. City breaks can be full of excitement and joy, but taking the time to appreciate the nature around us is also important. Whether you visit Lisbon on a solo travel tour, or part of a wider group, this National Park is an ideal escape from the congestion which forms from the city.

Experience a Candlelight Concert

Location: Lisbon

Nothing is more romantic, if you choose Lisbon for a couples city break, than to bathe in a candlelight concert. Not specifically unique to the capital, it’s still a great thing to do in Lisbon, as each venue across the world varies. When you opt for Lisbon as your chosen concert venue, you can expect to be seated in the open-air landscape of monasteries or the Altis Grand Hotel. Sit in awe as this 60-minute concert transcends you into the world of classical music, modernised to recent chart toppers such as Coldplay and Imagine Dragons. Think Bridgerton soundtrack, playing live in a beautiful open air courtyard, lit by hundreds of candles. It truly is one of the best things to experience while in Lisbon.

Be sure to secure your tickets online before attending to guarantee your seat.

The summer season is a popular time to visit Lisbon and the surrounding, and for good reason.
